I'm a writer, working on becoming better every day. I have spirit animals, and I am a Christian, though I don't subscribe to any particular sect, and I hold several beliefs that aren't exactly Christian. I'm a big foodie, and learning to become a better cook. I'm also a cereal killer.
I am a voracious reader. I proudly support the banned books that the fundies would rather burn. I have too many loves to really name them all, everything from classic literature to fantasy and sci-fi. I have a life-long love affair with 'children's' books too. Some of my loves: Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, H.P. Lovecraft, George Orwell, Douglas Adams, Robert Olen Butler, Brian Jacques, Alan Moore, Cormac McCarthy, Lois Lowry, Philip Pullman, Garth Nix, Neil Gaiman, China Mieville, Stephen King, Scott Fitzgerald, Shakespeare, Orson Scott Card, Oscar Wilde, Jane Austen, various Brontes, Rudyard Kipling, Thoreau, J.K. Rowling, Riordan, Colfer, Richard Scary (ok, not an author, but the man was a genius!), and yada yada yada. Seriously, there are too many to name. Everything I am is because of books. I am currently working my way through all the Newbery Medal and Newbery Honor books. I want to win a Newbery Medal some day, and I think reading all of the winners will give me a good idea of where to go.
My life goal is to write books for children and young adults that inspire them the same way the authors above have inspired ME.
Severus Snape is my favorite literary character, probably ever.
I am a gamer chick. I have a Wii and a 360 from the current generation of consoles, and have owned every Nintendo handheld since the original Gameboy. I play most genres, except for racing and RTS, even though I like select games from those genres. (Mario Kart, anyone?) Again, I have far too many favorite games to list them all, but at the top of the list are: Pokemon, Legend of Zelda, Fable 2, Gears of War, Mario Kart, Shadow of the Colossus, Kingdom Hearts, Assassin's Creed, Metal Gear Solid 4, GTA 4, Professor Layton, and numerous niche games like Chibi-Robo and Big Bang Mini.
I also enjoy anime that doesn't suck--Full Metal Alchemist, Habane Renmei, Tenchi Muyo, Samurai 7, Cowbow Bebop, Bubblegum Crisis (remake). I do not watch anime obsessively. Anime like Naruto and Inu Yasha irritates me, not because I think the anime is bad, but because I can't stand to wade into their overhyped maelstroms of fandom.
